About National Legal Aid Service (NLAS)
The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) is a state agency established under the Legal Aid Act 2016 with the mandate to offer legal aid services to the vulnerable, marginalized, and indigent persons in Kenya.
Role Overview
The Principal Planning Officer is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the NLAS strategic plan and service charter. This includes aligning departmental work plans with budgets and strategic goals, managing performance contracting, and coordinating project prioritization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implementing NLAS strategic plan and service charter.
Coordinating baseline surveys on service delivery.
Undertaking feasibility studies on NLAS programmes and projects.
Coordinating the development of departmental work plans and aligning budget and strategic objectives and goals.
Coordinating performance contracting and reporting.
Coordinating project prioritization process for the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) in accordance with the budget calendar.
Providing input in the preparation of the strategic plan.
Requirements for Appointment
At least nine (9) years of cumulative work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Senior Planning Officer or in a comparable position in the Private or Public sector.
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Economics, Economics and Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Statistics, Economics and Finance or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Certificate in Management Course.
Membership to a relevant professional body.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be in accordance with NLAS Salary Scale Grade 5:
Kshs 128,570 x 10,755 – 139,325 x 10,755 – 150,080 x 10,755 – 160,835 x 10,755 – 171,590 x 10,755 – 182,345 x 10,755 – 193,100 x 10,755 – 203,855 p.m.
