Role Overview
The Principal Physical Planner is a senior technical role within the County Government of Nandi, responsible for the oversight and coordination of physical and land use planning. The role ensures the sustainable and organized development of the county, often referred to as the 'Home of Champions,' by adhering to professional planning standards and legal frameworks.
Responsibilities and Duties
Directing and coordinating physical and land use planning activities within the county.
Overseeing the preparation and implementation of local and regional physical development plans.
Advising the county government on land use matters, development control, and urban management.
Ensuring compliance with the Physical and Land Use Planning Act and other relevant statutes.
Managing and supervising technical staff within the planning department.
Reviewing and approving development applications and subdivision schemes.
Facilitating stakeholder engagement and public participation in the planning process.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, candidates must:
Possess a Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, or Town Planning from a recognized institution.
Be a corporate member of the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) or the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) - Town Planning Chapter.
Be registered by the Physical Planners Registration Board.
Have a certificate in a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Have a certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Have demonstrated professional experience of not less than ten (10) years.
