The Pricing Executive plays a crucial role within the Commercial team, primarily responsible for developing and managing market rates and preparing accurate quotations for clients in the freight forwarding industry. This role requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and excellent follow-through to ensure the successful closure of business proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Rate Management: Source for competitive market rates and apply appropriate mark-up structures.
- Quotation Generation: Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for the Commercial team.
- Sales Follow-up: Proactively follow up on quotes sent to clients to ensure successful closure.
- Reporting: Report regularly on the success rate of quotations and closure statistics.
- Process Management: Handle profile requests and ensure all quotations are reviewed for alignment with client confirmations and internal process requirements.
- Approvals: Seek appropriate levels of approval from Management and relevant service departments for pricing strategies.
- Data Maintenance: Source and maintain updated data of contacts relevant to the compilation of quotations and ensure common reference availability.
- Record Keeping: Maintain an up-to-date record of proposals sent and their current status using approved database formats.
- Commercial Support: Work alongside the Commercial Manager to support Freight Forwarding activities in conjunction with the HQ team, aiming to build competitive carrier rates.
- Business Growth: Identify and follow through on customer support gaps, developing strategies for organic growth and business continuity.
- Market Intelligence: Support market intelligence efforts, including identifying growing industry verticals.
- Proposal Collaboration: Work closely with projects and bid teams, providing assistance in compiling comprehensive proposals.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Provide periodic reports to all key stakeholders regarding pricing activities and outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the Freight Forwarding Industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the freight forwarding industry is essential.
