The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitative Services Manager at Mater Misericordiae Hospital is responsible for overseeing the clinical, operational, and administrative functions of the Physiotherapy Department. The role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with professional standards, optimizing resource allocation, maintaining budgetary control, and delivering high-quality patient-centered rehabilitative care.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care & Standards: Monitor standards of patients' care to ensure delivery of quality patient care.
Leadership & Supervision: Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and other support staff.
Operations & Systems: Develop structures, systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective functioning of the department.
Budgeting & Cost Control: Liaise with the Director of Medical Services to develop realistic budgetary estimates and ensure adherence to approved budgets through prudent spending and effective cost control.
Team Performance: Ensure the department has a strong team of highly competent and motivated staff performing to set performance standards.
Customer Satisfaction & Efficiency: Ensure highest possible standards of quality and operational efficiency in departmental processes to realize high internal and external customer satisfaction.
Strategic Objectives: Be accountable for the performance of the department including attainment of strategic objectives under the strategic plan, annual work plans, and other agreed targets.
Supply & Procurement: Develop and implement systems to ensure adequate, reliable supply of consumables; develop specifications and liaise with procurement for timely procurement of planned equipment.
Reporting: Prepare statistical reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and submit them to the medical records section.
Representation: Represent the institution in matters of physiotherapy practice and profession.
Staff Allocation & Communication: Supervise and allocate duties to all physiotherapy staff; communicate the hospital's strategic plan, objectives, policies, and procedures to staff.
Inventory & Revenue: Monitor and control stock movement within the department to ensure all revenue is captured and proper records are maintained.
Compliance & Ethics: Ensure adherence to set professional and ethical standards in the practice of physiotherapy and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Staff & Quality Development: Develop systems for staff development and participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Other Duties: Perform any other duty assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy
Master’s Degree is desirable
Minimum five (5) years as a team leader
Registered & Licenced by Physiotherapy Council of Kenya
Supervisory experience
