The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitative Services Manager at Mater Misericordiae Hospital is responsible for overseeing the standards of patient care to ensure the delivery of high-quality services. The role involves providing leadership, supervision, and mentorship to physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other support staff, while developing the necessary structures, systems, and policies for the effective functioning of the department. The manager is accountable for the department's performance, strategic alignment, and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality of Care: Monitor standards of patients’ care to ensure delivery of quality patient care.
Leadership: Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and other support staff.
Departmental Systems: Develop structures, systems, policies, and procedures to ensure effective functioning of the department.
Financial Management: Liaise with the Director of Medical Services to develop realistic budgetary estimates and ensure adherence through prudent spending and cost control measures.
Staff Performance: Ensure the Department has a strong team of highly competent and motivated staff performing to set standards.
Operational Efficiency: Ensure highest possible standards of quality and operational efficiency in Departmental processes to realize high internal and external customer satisfaction.
Strategic Planning: Be accountable for the performance of the department including attainment of Strategic objectives under the strategic plan and annual work plans.
Resource Management: Develop and implement systems to ensure adequate supply of consumables and develop specifications for the procurement of equipment.
Reporting: Prepare statistical reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the medical records section.
Representation: Represent the institution in matters of physiotherapy practice and represent departmental staff issues to management.
Professional Standards: Be accountable for the adherence to set professional and ethical standards in the practice of physiotherapy and related services.
Compliance: Ensure the hospital’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relating to physiotherapy.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy.
Master’s Degree is desirable.
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a team leader or in a supervisory role.
Currently Registered & Licensed by the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya.
Keen attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
