Role Overview
The Nakuru County Government is inviting applications for the position of Physical Planner (2 Posts). The Physical Planner will be responsible for the spatial planning and development of national, regional, and urban areas within the county. This role is critical in ensuring organized urban growth, climate resilience, and sustainable development through effective planning and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Implementation: Preparing and implementing physical plans for national, regional, and urban areas and cities.
Sustainability: Supporting the integration of urban resilience and climate-responsive planning approaches into development plans and projects.
Public Participation: Facilitating stakeholder engagement and public participation processes in planning and development initiatives.
Linkages and Partnerships: Supporting coordination and linkages with local and international partners, institutions, and development agencies in planning-related programs.
Inter-agency Collaboration: Contributing to inter-agency collaboration to enhance sustainable urban development and service delivery.
Administration: Processing development applications and maintaining physical planning records.
Qualifications and Requirements
Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning, Land Resource Planning, Environmental Planning, or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Be a graduate member of the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP) or the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) - Town Planning Chapter.
A Master’s degree in the Built Environment from an institution recognized in Kenya will be an added advantage.
Have a certificate in computer application skills.
