Job Description
CURE International is seeking a qualified Pharmaceutical Technologist to join the team on a locum basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications and providing essential drug information to both patients and medical staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
Medication Dispensing: Dispense drugs to in-patients upon discharge and out-patients as required.
Patient Education: Always ensure patients are educated with instructions for proper use and cautioned on potential side effects.
Prescription Review: Scrutinize patient treatment sheets and prescriptions for suitability, dosing accuracy, drug interactions, and proper route of administration.
Inventory Management: Replenish stocks of in-patient medications according to treatment sheets and maintain an accurate record of all issued medicines in bin cards, issue books, and the Odoo system.
Pharmacy Store Management: Maintain the pharmacy store, making medication orders for the pharmacy and supplying orders to other departments such as the Operating Room (OR) and wards.
Clinical Support: Provide drug information to patients, clinicians, nurses, and other medical staff and participate in regular monitoring of medication management in clinical areas.
Quality & Standards: In charge of all quality activities in relation to the position according to Hospital Standards (SAFECARE). Maintain the pharmacy cold chain and ensure pharmacy cleanliness.
Reporting & Administration: Prepare and send all required periodic reports and maintain all pharmacy records and other assigned administrative tasks.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain and manage OSHA Standards in cleanliness through implementation of the OSHA Policy, ensuring PPEs are worn at all times. Comply with CURE child protection and safeguarding policies.
Professional Development: Keep up to date with current pharmacy practice and drug information.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other staff members to provide quality service and support the vision, mission, and values of CURE.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum qualification of a BA/BSc/HND in Pharmacy or a related pharmaceutical field.
Registration and certification as a Pharmaceutical Technologist.
Up-to-date knowledge of current pharmacy practices and medications.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary medical team.
Strong commitment to child protection and safeguarding standards.
