This role involves serving as the Home Room P1 Teacher for Lower Primary, responsible for the delivery of the National curriculum for the assigned class/subject. The incumbent must ensure a high quality of learning, effective classroom management, and professional execution of related duties in a timely manner. The teacher is expected to actively participate in promoting an enabling environment for students and staff and maintaining a positive image of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- To prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the school’s vision and mission.
- To collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans for the curriculum.
- To ensure students acquire excellent knowledge and skills so that they make progress, achieve their targets and are prepared for the next stage of their careers.
- Produce necessary documentation such as Unit plans, Records of Work, Course outlines, and class analyses.
- Differentiate lessons in order to match learners’ needs.
- Involve the learners in different learning activities such as storytelling, role plays, numbers and letters recognition, etc.
- Display learners’ work in the classroom to showcase their abilities and finished projects.
- Plan regular excursions to expose students to different environments.
- Observe the behavior of children and help them improve it by building self-confidence and teaching social values.
- To guide learners with learning differences and behavioral challenges.
- Manage and update the progress of children and create reports for parents.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold of PTE Certificate (P1 Certificate) from KNEC with a minimum of B- in O-levels.
- Must be registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
- At least 1-2 years' teaching experience in Upper Primary.
- Be conversant with the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
- Bachelors in Education will be an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of MS – office computer applications.
