Job Description
The Community Liaison Office (CLO) Communications Assistant works under the supervision and direction of the CLO Coordinator. This role is responsible for producing the weekly newsletter "The Roar" and managing website and social media content to promote Mission events and community well-being. The assistant will develop an editorial calendar, organize online content, and improve communication by maintaining a mission-wide events calendar, providing community members with the most current information available regarding life, activities, and events in Nairobi. Additionally, the role involve assisting the CLO in the development, execution, and management of post programs to foster and maintain high morale among community members. This position requires a Public Trust Clearance.
Responsibilities
Produce the weekly newsletter "The Roar."
Manage website and social media content to promote Mission events.
Develop an editorial calendar and organize online content.
Maintain the mission-wide events calendar to improve communication flow.
Provide current information on activities and events in Nairobi to community members.
Assist the CLO in developing and managing programs to support community morale.
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience in education, administration, public relations, media/communication, marketing, or public/community outreach is required.
Education: Completion of Secondary School (KCSE) is required.
Technical Knowledge: Ability to design and update online media platforms, including Facebook and web pages. Familiarity with electronic communication delivery systems.
Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the general culture of Kenya, knowledge of local points of interest for trip planning, and awareness of civic and educational activities.
Organizational Knowledge: Ability to conceptualize how information can positively impact community morale. Knowledge of Department of State and Mission Nairobi activities is preferred.
