The British Red Cross is looking for a National Society Development (NSD) Technical Lead to support partner National Societies across East and Southern Africa. This role involves working closely with societies in Somalia, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Madagascar to design and implement robust development plans. The successful candidate will provide technical advisory support, manage NSD funding, and champion the localization agenda within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Responsibilities
National Society Development Support
- Support the National Societies of Somalia, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Madagascar in designing and implementing their NSD Plans based on agreed objectives and milestones.
- Conduct assessments, analyze data, and provide strategic recommendations to address challenges and opportunities within partner National Societies.
- Assist partners in developing and executing unified 'one-NSD' plans.
Technical & Advisory Support
- Facilitate the mobilization of Movement-wide and external technical expertise to review policies, processes, systems, and structures.
- Coordinate with IFRC NSD counterparts and relevant technical advisors.
- Integrate safeguarding and protection activities into the NSD plans of partner organizations.
- Provide coaching and advice to leadership on organizational priorities.
Funding Management and Learning
- Oversee financial contributions to partner NSD plans, ensuring documentation, monitoring, and reporting are compliant with ICRC/Movement standards.
- Develop monitoring and reporting processes based on the NSD MEL Framework.
- Monitor reputational risks and integrity issues affecting National Societies.
- Identify and document organizational learning for internal and external knowledge sharing.
Localisation Agenda
- Influence the development of localized models that shift power to local actors within the Movement.
- Engage with the 'Network Ways of Working' process and conduct research to demonstrate the impact of National Society Development.
- Support the delivery of Partnership Reviews across East and Southern Africa.
Cross-cutting Priorities
- Contribute to a culture of safeguarding and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
- Promote diversity and inclusive practices within all partnership activities.
