Role Overview

The Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is hiring 14 Medical Officers to provide comprehensive medical care. This pivotal role involves diagnosing, treating, and managing patients, performing essential clinical procedures, and supporting preventive and rehabilitative health services to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Division/Section in the area of deployment, the position holder will be responsible for:

• Undertaking first-on-call duties, including clerking, investigating, and managing patients.
• Reviewing patients and documenting recommendations accurately.
• Conducting outpatient clinics and assisting in theatre procedures.
• Performing emergency surgeries and life-saving interventions when required.
• Collaborating with medical specialists in wards, theatres, and clinics to deliver quality care.
• Handling medico-legal duties, including completing P3 forms, attending court sessions, and performing postmortems.
• Carrying out medical examinations and preparing detailed medical reports.
• Training and supervising interns and medical students during clinical rotations.
• Participating in outreach programs and community health initiatives.
• Ensuring accurate data collection and reporting for patient care and hospital records.
• Any other duties as may be assigned.

Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council.
• Registration Certificate by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Must possess a professional indemnity cover.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Added Advantage:

• Training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate.
