Role Overview\nThe Medical Education Coordinator at Tenwek Hospital oversees the daily administrative and operational aspects of the cardiothoracic training programs. This is a full-time leadership role based at the Tenwek Cardiothoracic Center in Bomet, Kenya. The coordinator is responsible for supervising administrative assistants, managing the full lifecycle of trainee recruitment (both local and international), ensuring strict compliance with regulatory bodies like KMPDC, PAACS, and COSECSA, and managing the department's logistics, including housing and budgeting.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n- Directly supervise and support Administrative Assistants for various training programs including cardiothoracic surgery fellowship, perfusion, anesthesiology, and critical care nursing. Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and manage leave requests.\n- Coordinate recruitment for fellows and nurses from Africa and internationally. Manage application processes, interviews, KMPDC registrations, visas, work permits, and immigration documentation. Facilitate pre-arrival logistics, travel, and cultural integration.\n- Ensure timely renewal of professional licenses and registrations. Maintain compliance records with institutional, national (KMPDC), and international standards (PAACS, COSECSA). Coordinate program certifications and site visits.\n- Oversee housing for cardiothoracic trainees, manage housing assignments and budgets, and ensure proper orientation to daily life for new arrivals.\n- Develop and monitor the annual medical education budget in partnership with the Director of Medical Education and Research. Assist program directors in developing individual program budgets and track monthly expenses.\n- Collaborate with the Communications Department for program advertising and website updates. Respond to inquiries and communicate with stakeholders.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Medical Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).\n- Minimum 5 years in medical education program coordination or graduate medical education administration.\n- Experience supervising administrative teams and managing complex, multi-program training environments.\n- Proven track record with international trainee programs, visas, and Kenyan regulatory bodies (KMPDC, Immigration).
