We are seeking a Medical Advisor who will provide operational excellence, a business mindset, and help develop new ways of value addition to our patient-centric programs and solutions. The role involves working at the forefront of healthcare innovation, providing clinical expertise, research coordination, and program development support.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Guidance
Responsible for delivering clear, documented content, medical analysis, and advice specifically to product/program development, decision making, and implementation.
Provide deep knowledge of active/planned programs, experiments, or pilots on products or solutions.
Contribute medical context into marketing and commercial strategies aimed at developing market-driven solutions for the sustainability of programs and services.
Translate complex medical information, guidelines, and regulatory provisions into understandable content for various programs and audiences.
Medical Research and Innovations
Serve as a medical counterpart to external researchers evaluating PharmAccess interventions in Kenya and act as the local research coordinator.
Contribute to setting up and implementing medical interventions as part of PharmAccess patient care journeys.
Provide technical support to the Kenya PharmAccess epidemic preparedness strategy, including IDSR monitoring and predictive modeling.
Ensure PharmAccess interventions are in line with national ethical standards (clearance) and NACOSTI compliance.
Co-analyze and critically assess the quality of clinical data and perform interim analyses in collaboration with the Amsterdam research team.
Secure the medical correctness of project information dissemination and communications.
Identify and follow up on funding opportunities for clinical research.
Program Development
Ensure PharmAccess programs and research work meet standards required by medical and regulatory agencies.
Coordinate programs and provide clinical documented content and advice to ensure programs achieve set goals.
Design and review medical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) linking to different programs.
Work with site teams to identify supply-side gaps, develop measurable health outcomes, and provide advice on benefit packages.
Support the development of medical content for digital health packages such as M-TIBA (MomCare, Safe Mama-Tech, Insurance packages).
Contribute to cross-cutting measurable health outcomes and identify new opportunities for improvement.
Provide input to SafeCare medical content and monitoring in alignment with strategic directions.
Ensure standards are in tandem with local policy and regulatory provisions.
Conduct evaluations to determine project outcomes, key learnings, and implications.
Key Stakeholder Engagement
Build and retain relations with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and academic centers within the public and private sectors.
Deliver scientific presentations and capacity building to healthcare professionals (HCPs).
Convene and coordinate advisory boards, Technical Working Groups, and expert panel meetings.
Liaison contact between PharmAccess Kenya and the PAI Amsterdam medical team.
Represent the organization at medico-scientific forums and events.
Act as the principal delegate to the government on matters affecting medical, clinical, and service policy.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum MD (MBChB) qualification holder.
A valid KMPDC certification and practice license having fulfilled all requirements.
At least five years’ post-qualification experience in medical practice or similar roles.
Exposure to working in a competitive environment with multiple stakeholders.
Post-graduate training in medicine or related health services/specializations will be an added advantage.
Experience working with programs will be considered a significant advantage.
