The role is responsible for the proper and effective maintenance of the Self-Propelled Harvester (SPH) in the estate. The primary objective is to ensure mechanical efficiency, uphold the highest safety standards, and maximize tea quality and productivity. You will focus on increasing machine availability and reliability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring efficiency in the utilization of the machines.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Troubleshooting: Carrying out troubleshooting of the SPH machines to identify issues.
Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out inspection, repairs, and overhauling of SPH machines to the required standards.
Record Keeping: Maintaining and updating service records and repair cost analysis.
Mechanical Assembly: Dismantling and assembling SPH units and equipment as required, including fitting new parts.
Cost Estimation: Carrying out comparative estimate costs of repairs and maintenance.
Asset Management: Ensuring safe custody of spares, tools, and equipment assigned.
Field Support: Attending to emergency breakdowns outside the workshop.
Quality Control: Participating in confirming that only quality spare parts are fitted on the machines.
Safety & Compliance: Observing and complying with environmental, health, and safety measures and regulations.
Specialized Repairs: Carrying out repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems and performing simple welding and fabrication tasks.
Training: Training SPH operators on safe operating procedures and developing their technical capacities.
Other Duties: Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required
Education: Diploma in Automotive, Motor Vehicle Mechanics (MVM), or Mechanical Engineering (Plant option).
Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience.
Additional Certifications: Certificate in auto-electrics and welding will be an added advantage.
Licensing: Being a multi-skilled driver (Classes B, C, E, G) is an added advantage.
