The role of the Management Accountant is critical in providing comprehensive, multi-entity financial accounting support, encompassing ledger management, month-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience managing accounting operations for multiple companies, coupled with strong analytical capabilities and the drive to implement process improvements within the finance function. This position directly supports the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in ensuring that all business units meet financial reporting obligations, comply with IFRS/GAAP standards, and maintain a robust internal control environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Multi-Entity Accounting & Ledger Management
- Maintain accurate general ledgers for multiple companies within the group.
- Record all financial transactions promptly and accurately.
- Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, eliminations, and transfer pricing entries.
- Ensure accounting policies are applied consistently across all entities.
2. Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR) Oversight
- Process vendor invoices, staff expense claims, and supplier payments.
- Generate customer invoices, track receivables, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate AP/AR aging reports and escalate risk accounts promptly.
- Support supplier and customer reconciliation processes.
3. Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and amortization.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet schedules, and key control accounts.
- Generate monthly management accounts for each subsidiary (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
- Prepare variance analysis and financial commentary for leadership review.
4. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Support preparation of annual budgets for each business unit.
- Update rolling forecasts and perform scenario analysis.
- Provide insights on cost drivers, revenue trends, and financial risks.
- Assist in aligning financial forecasts with operational performance targets.
5. Compliance, Controls & Audit Support
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS/GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors during annual audits.
- Assist with statutory filings (PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax).
- Strengthen internal controls across payment processes, procurement, and inventory.
6. Systems, Data Integrity & Process Improvement
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of data across accounting and ERP systems.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and workflow improvement.
- Support digital transformation initiatives within the finance function.
- Train staff on financial processes and compliance requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CPA (K) or equivalent professional certification is required.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (multi-entity experience strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in modern accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Oracle ERP, etc.).
- Strong understanding of IFRS/GAAP and statutory tax requirements.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, dashboards).
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines across several companies.
- Strong communication, analytical, and reconciliation skills.
