Lower Primary Teacher

Responsibilities

• School Ethos: Endeavour to maintain and develop the ethos of the school in accordance with directions given by the Directors and the Principal.
• Instruction: Teach a class of students and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment, and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
• Teamwork: Contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and the Directors.
• Policy Implementation: Implement agreed school policies and guidelines in consultation with the Principal and support initiatives decided by the Principal and staff.
• Classroom Management: Provide a stimulating classroom environment where resources can be accessed appropriately by all students and maintain good order and discipline in accordance with the school’s behavior policy.
• Student Progress: Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all students through differentiation of tasks and set clear targets based on prior attainment for students’ learning.
• Record Keeping: Keep appropriate and efficient records of work, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning.
• Communication: Report to parents on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
• Professional Development: Participate in meetings related to the school’s management, curriculum, and administration; attend staff meetings, seminars, and co-curricular events.
• Supervision: Lead, organize, and direct support staff within the classroom and carry out supervisory duties as required, including out-of-school activities.
• Attendance: Ensure prompt and regular attendance of students and report any absence to the Principal or Deputy Principal.
• Professional Image: Promote a professional image of self, dress appropriately, and uphold the school’s image at all times.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) or Bachelor of Education (Primary Option) from a recognized University/Institution.
• Certification: Must be a registered member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a recognized school.
