The Locum Laboratory Technologist role, reporting to the Health Centre Manager, is crucial for performing laboratory-based scientific medical investigations necessary to provide accurate laboratory diagnoses. This is a contract position requiring professionalism and technical proficiency, specifically targeted for operations in the Coast region.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample Management: Registration, collection, and processing of client samples within the limits of specific tests.
- Result Communication: Timely and accurate communication of laboratory results.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality laboratory practice through the proper use of reagents, well-calibrated machines, and a clean working environment.
- Documentation: Preparation of laboratory reports.
- QC Participation: Participation in internal Quality Control (QC) programmes and logging findings in the appropriate registers.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: A Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Registration: Must have a registration certificate from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Board (KMLTTB).
- Experience: At least two (2) years of appropriate experience in medical laboratory functions.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated ICT competency.
