The Water Resources Authority (WRA) is the lead agency in the Management of Water Resources in Kenya, responsible for regulating, managing, and equitably allocating national water resources. This is an entry and training grade for degree holders in the Legal Services Function. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer, advising the Authority on legal matters and coordinating the legal function, as well as assisting in Board secretarial services.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting legal documents/instruments, legal opinions, and briefs.
Conducting research on specific legal areas.
Prosecuting cases and compiling criminal case files for watching briefs before mainstream courts.
Handling pre-litigation and litigation of legal disputes and inquiries.
Drafting contracts, pleadings, legal instruments, and internal policies.
Providing and interpreting legal information and memoranda relevant to the Authority.
Participating in policy development and advising on legal and policy issues.
Compiling relevant information for case files and communicating with the Attorney General and external advocates.
Providing legal risk reviews and advising on risk mitigation.
Vetting and negotiating contracts, formal agreements, and other legal instruments to meet execution requirements.
Job Specifications
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) in good standing.
Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
A current and valid Practicing Certificate.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Terms of Service and Remuneration
Successful candidates will serve for a probationary period of six (6) months, thereafter converting to Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service. Remuneration will be subject to the existing terms approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
