Kenyatta University is seeking a Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to join the department. This role involves delivering academic instruction, conducting innovative research, and providing comprehensive mentorship to both undergraduate (B.Pharm) and postgraduate students. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the curriculum remains competitive and aligned with regulatory standards, while contributing significantly to the university's academic and research output.
Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate practical laboratory training for Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and postgraduate students specifically in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry.
Mentor students and supervise research projects within the department to foster academic growth.
Examine and assess students’ academic progress in accordance with university policies and standards.
Develop and review academic curricula to ensure alignment with the University, Commission of University Education (CUE), and Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) standards.
Engage in continuous research activities and publish findings in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
Coordinate academic programs and manage departmental operations as assigned by the Departmental Chairman.
Qualifications and Experience
A Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry from a recognized institution.
A PhD in a relevant field is considered a significant added advantage.
A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) degree or its equivalent.
Must be registered and hold a current practice license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) of Kenya.
A minimum of two (2) years of academic or research experience at an institution of higher learning or a reputable research institution.
Must be a current member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK).
Terms of Service
A competitive remuneration package including basic salary, house allowance, and medical cover as per the University Scheme will be provided. Note that while this is a Lecturer position, the terms for associated academic tracks such as Tutorial Fellows usually involve a one (1) year renewable contract up to a maximum of three (3) years.
