Lecturer - Monitoring & Evaluation

Job Specification

This position is the entry grade for PhD degree holders into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the direct supervision of a senior officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

1. Teaching and Instruction: Lecturing in the area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus, coordinating course projects and practical work, preparing teaching/learning materials, and setting, invigilating, and marking examinations/assignments.
2. Research and Publication: Carrying out research work in a relevant field or specialization, developing proposals for research funding, writing journal articles and books, and presenting academic papers at conferences/seminars/workshops or symposia.
3. Academic Development: Developing and reviewing academic programmes/curricula.
4. Supervision and Leadership: Supervising Tutorial/Junior Research Fellows and students. Where appropriate, providing leadership in the Department/School.
5. External Engagement: Undertaking consultancies with local and international organizations within areas of expertise to enhance the image of the University College.
6. Networking and Resource Mobilization: Establishing collaborative linkages and networks through communication, collaboration, and participation for resource mobilization for the University College.
7. Visibility and Policy Influence: Presenting research findings and innovations to international conferences to increase the visibility of the University and influence the international policy environment for the improvement of life.
8. Community Engagement: Engaging with local and international stakeholders to establish linkages and networks to work together for the betterment of communities through research and innovations.
9. Administration and Management: Preparing student progress reports, executing budgets for student field trips for academic exposure and the application of theory, and controlling and managing research budgets to ensure accountability of allocated funds.
10. Other Duties: Any other relevant duty assigned by the University College.

Person Specifications (Minimum Requirements)

Candidates must meet the following specifications:

• Education:
  • An earned PhD or equivalent Doctoral degree in Population Health/Public Health/Public Reproductive Health/ Epidemiology & Disease Control/Monitoring & Evaluation/ Community Health/Occupational Health & Safety or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized University.
  • Hold a Master’s degree in Population Health/Public Health/Public Reproductive Health/ Epidemiology & Disease Control/ Monitoring & Evaluation/ Community Health/Occupational Health & Safety or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized University.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Population Health from an accredited and recognized University.
• Experience & Publications:
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research/industry.
  • A minimum of 24 publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers.
  • Show evidence of attendance and contribution at conferences, seminars or workshops.
• Other Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Current registration by relevant professional statutory bodies and membership in a professional association will be an added advantage.
