Lecturer I, KEWI Grade 7 (1 Post)

This role is for a Lecturer I at KEWI Grade 7 level, reporting directly to the Senior Lecturer KEWI 6 within the Kenya Water Institute (KEWI). The position is instrumental in delivering specialized technical training and academic support, primarily in the field of Irrigation Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for this level will entail:

• Implementing curriculum and training manuals.
• Preparing teaching/learning materials and schemes of work.
• Lecturing in the area of specialization (Irrigation Engineering) in accordance with the syllabus.
• Setting and marking examinations/assignments.
• Carrying out research work under the guidance and supervision of a senior trainer.
• Implementing guidelines for students with special needs.
• Preparing students progress reports.
• Conducting student academic mentorship programmes.
• Developing and maintaining class registers.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• At least three (3) years relevant work experience at the grade of Lecturer II or in a comparable position.
• Bachelor’s degree in Irrigation Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognised University.
• Certificate in Training of Trainers (TOT) course lasting not less than six (6) months from a recognised Institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Must have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
