Role Overview
Kenyatta University is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Lecturer within the Department of Family Medicine, Community Health, and Epidemiology. This role is central to training medical and public health professionals and contributing to the university's academic excellence in the field of health sciences.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality academic instruction and training to professionals in the field of Public Health, Medicine, and Epidemiology.
Contribute to the curriculum development and teaching in an institution of higher learning.
Engage in program-related activities involving Monitoring, Evaluation, Epidemiology, Disease Control, and Biostatistics.
Specifically focus on programs related to Malaria treatment, prevention, and control; HIV/AIDS/TB; and Maternal, Child Health, and Nutritional Programs.
Participate in departmental research initiatives and supervise students as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must satisfy at least one of the following academic qualification pathways:
Option 1: PhD Pathway
PhD in Public Health.
Master of Public Health or its equivalent.
Option 2: Professional Medical Pathway
Master of Public Health or its equivalent.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCHB), Bachelor of Dental Surgery, or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm).
Experience Requirements
Must have at least two (2) years of experience in training professionals or teaching in an institution of higher learning.
At least one (1) year of experience working in programs involved with Monitoring, Evaluation, Epidemiology, Disease control, and Biostatistics.
Proven experience in areas such as Malaria treatment/prevention, HIV/AIDS/TB programs, or Maternal and Child Health programs.
Licensing and Registration
The candidate must be registered and licensed by the relevant professional/Regulatory Body.
Terms of Service
A competitive remuneration package including basic salary, house allowance, and medical cover will be provided according to the University Scheme.
Please note that while this is a Lecturer position, the university mentions that Tutorial Fellows are typically employed on one (1) year renewable contracts up to a maximum of three (3) years.
