Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:
- Conduct research, publish findings, and mentor students to meet University goals.
- Create innovative research proposals to secure funding and elevate student research opportunities.
- Produce scholarly publications to enhance professional growth and University research ranking.
- Advocate for innovative teaching methods both locally and globally.
- Lead research projects addressing community challenges and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Secure research funding and provide high-quality supervision for students.
- Design and implement curriculum for industry-ready graduates.
- Organize practical learning experiences and supervise Teaching Assistants.
- Set and moderate examinations to ensure quality academic standards.
- Provide individualized support to improve student performance and address their needs.
- Engage students in critical thinking and meaningful discourse.
- Undertake consultancies and showcase innovations to enhance the University's reputation.
- Establish collaborative partnerships for resource mobilization and community engagement.
- Present research findings internationally and contribute to societal development through volunteerism.
- Contribute to University management, administrative processes, and student well-being.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
For appointment to this grade, candidates MUST meet the following mandatory requirements:
- Possess an earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited university recognized by the OUK Senate.
- Have served for a cumulative period of six (6) years, three (3) of which must have been in the Grade of Tutorial Fellow/Junior Research Fellow in the relevant field.
- Attain a minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, with at least sixteen (16) points derived from refereed journal papers.
- Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
- Demonstrate in-depth professional/discipline-specific knowledge and experience in a specialized field or broad knowledge across a number of fields.
Note: The Terms of Service will be either Permanent and Pensionable OR Contract, as shall be determined by the University Council.
