Tom Mboya University is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff to fill two positions for Lecturer in Civil Engineering. This role involves delivering high-quality education, advancing the university's research output, and contributing to the development of the Engineering department. The successful candidates will be part of a growing institution dedicated to academic excellence in the Homa Bay region.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver comprehensive lectures and facilitate tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Civil Engineering.
Develop and review academic curricula and course materials to align with professional and industrial standards.
Conduct original research in specific areas of Civil Engineering and seek publication in reputable journals.
Supervise student research projects, theses, and practical industrial attachments.
Participate in departmental administrative duties, academic committees, and community outreach programs.
Provide mentorship and academic advising to students.
Collaborate with professional bodies like the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and industry stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level or significant experience in research or the engineering industry.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) must be from refereed scholarly journals.
Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g., Engineers Board of Kenya) where applicable.
