The Lead Electrician is responsible for providing technical leadership and hands-on supervision in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems across industrial and commercial projects. The role ensures that all electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory regulations, approved drawings, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Supervision and Leadership: Oversee electricians and apprentices, coordinating project resources, and enforcing safety compliance.
Technical Execution: Lead the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems in industrial and commercial environments.
Compliance: Ensure all electrical works are executed in full compliance with statutory regulations, approved drawings, and company standards.
System Management: Handle low, medium, and high voltage systems; install, commission, and maintain motor controls, drives, and electronic components.
Technical Documentation: Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications for accurate project execution.
Modifications and Upgrades: Perform electrical equipment installation, system upgrades, and circuit modifications.
Efficiency: Deliver high-quality electrical solutions that meet project timelines and organizational objectives.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience as an Electrician in an industrial or commercial environment, with proven leadership or supervisory exposure.
Certification: Possession of a Journeyman Card or ability to obtain and maintain one within 90 days of employment.
Education: BA/BSc/HND in Engineering or a related technical field.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in sizing conductors and conduits, and practical application of the NEC Code Book.
Voltage Expertise: Demonstrated experience handling low, medium, and high voltage systems (medium voltage experience is an added advantage).
Electronic Control: Solid knowledge and hands-on experience in installing, commissioning, and motor controls, drives, and electronic components.
Analytical Skills: Advanced ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
