The role of the Labelling Operator involves efficiently operating and maintaining the labelling machine to guarantee smooth, consistent, and high-quality production output. The operator is responsible for minimizing machine downtime, meeting production targets, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring strict compliance with all safety, quality, and maintenance protocols. Furthermore, the role supports continuous improvement efforts to foster a productive, safe, and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Machine Operation & Production
- Operate the labelling machine strictly following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining strict adherence to product quality standards.
- Perform machine changeovers independently within the allocated time and ensure equipment cleanliness afterward.
- Guarantee proper utilization of production hours, accounting for scheduled breaks and prayer times.
Coordination & Material Management
- Coordinate effectively with the Shift Engineer to ensure labels, adhesives, bottles, and other necessary materials are continuously available throughout the shift.
- Provide assistance in operating other related machines when required to ensure smooth overall line operations.
Troubleshooting & Quality Control
- Promptly identify and troubleshoot machine faults and abnormalities to effectively minimize downtime and rejection rates.
- Monitor and inspect labelling quality—including alignment, adhesion, clarity, and coding—and initiate corrective actions immediately when deviations are noted.
- Report any machine or process abnormalities immediately to the Shift Engineer.
Process Monitoring & Documentation
- Monitor and control machine process parameters to sustain optimal operating conditions.
- Ensure proper shift handover by clearly documenting machine status, current process issues, and actions taken.
- Accurately fill and maintain all required production documents, which include:
- Daily production reports
- Downtime records
- Preventive maintenance checklists
Housekeeping & Safety
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and hygiene in the area surrounding the machine, in accordance with company standards.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including the mandatory use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), implementation of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.
- Actively participate in safety drills, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience Requirements
- 5–6 years of hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Krones labelling machines in the beverage manufacturing industry.
- Proven knowledge of mechanical adjustments, basic electrical troubleshooting, and production line operations in high-speed bottling environments.
