The Key Account Executive role, based in Meru, is critical for driving sales, marketing, and distribution strategies for these specialized healthcare products within key institutional accounts in the region. This position requires a strong focus on strategic account management, market monitoring, relationship building, and strict adherence to service excellence and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Strategy
- Analyse tenders thoroughly to understand specific requirements and leverage these insights to benefit the company's competitive positioning.
- Develop and align buying processes tailored for each key account.
- Map the therapeutic needs of key accounts to proactively identify market gaps and new opportunities.
- Lead essential communication efforts with institutions during currency fluctuations to effectively manage necessary price adjustments while ensuring strong client retention.
- Collect and report critical sales data to management to support data-driven decision-making processes.
Market Monitoring
- Conduct continuous market research to determine current and future market requirements for both existing and prospective products.
- Track and evaluate the marketing activities carried out by competitors.
- Analyze prevailing market trends, monitor product performance, and oversee the successful launch of new products.
- Stay comprehensively informed about new trends and best practices in Marketing and Communication.
Customer Relationship and Management
- Maintain strong, positive customer service relationships with key accounts.
Service Excellence
- Attend promptly to the specific needs of internal and external customers, as well as third parties, ensuring all requests are addressed in line with established service standards.
- Actively monitor and ensure service levels consistently meet expectations, reporting any issues affecting performance directly to management.
- Collaborate with management on initiatives designed to improve service excellence.
Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure rigorous adherence to all relevant company policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Maintain accurate records of service and maintenance activities using the appropriate systems.
- Provide timely and accurate reports as required by management.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BSc/HND equivalent) in a Science-related course.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in pharmaceuticals sales and marketing.
- Key Account Expertise: At least 2 years of this experience must be specifically in managing institutions or key accounts.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid knowledge base regarding key institutions within the sector.
- Functional Expertise: Proven experience in marketing functions, complemented by strong analytical reporting, presentation, and business review skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage stakeholders professionally and resolve complex issues collaboratively.
- Professional Attributes: High level of integrity, proven discretion with customers’ data, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
