Internal Auditor I, Kewi Grade 7

The role of Internal Auditor I, KEWI Grade 7, reports directly to the Senior Internal Auditor, KEWI 6. This position is central to ensuring strong internal controls, accurate financial reporting, and compliance within the organization by conducting detailed audits and preparing necessary documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

• Preparing audit test procedures, notifications, and requests for information memos.
• Conducting preliminary reviews of the areas designated for audit.
• Carrying out comprehensive audit tests on internal controls across all processes.
• Ensuring that the audit working and paper files are complete and thoroughly referenced.
• Preparing draft audit reports based on findings.
• Drafting risk-based audit plans, programmes, and schedules.
• Collecting and collating data related to financial records, systems, and processes.

Person Specifications and Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant work experience at the grade of Internal Auditor II or in a comparable position.
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
• Performance: Proven merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
• Integrity: Applicants must meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

Note: Successful candidates will also be required to obtain the following clearances upon job offer (not at the application stage):

• Certificate of Good Conduct;
• Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
• Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
• Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
• Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
