The Finance Intern will provide essential support to the Finance Unit, operating under the supervision of the Head of Finance and in close collaboration with the ICT/Procurement and HR teams. This internship is designed to ensure the implementation of operational strategies, maintain compliance, and assist in core financial and administrative processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Summary of Key Functions:
1. Implementation of Operational Strategies and Procedures:
Ensure full compliance with UN/UNDP rules and regulations regarding financial processes, financial records, and reports.
Provide inputs for the elaboration of work plans.
Assist in the preparation of financial analyses and related reports.
2. Research and Process Optimization:
Conduct analysis on the workflow of the finance unit and produce reports on process optimization.
Improve the integrity of data utilized for the Pay cycle process.
Liaison with other United Nations agencies for information relating to payments.
3. Accounting and Administrative Support:
Process financial documentation (vouchers, supporting documents, invoices, etc.) and maintain the internal expenditures control system.
Ensure that processed vouchers are matched and completed, and transactions are correctly recorded and posted in the Quantum system.
Follow up with other teams in the office for information related to payments.
Assist in analyzing and monitoring the financial related dashboard.
Provide financial support to country office programme teams (as assigned by the supervisor).
Maintain a proper filing system for financial records and documents.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Bachelor of Commerce, or Business Administration in Accounting.
CPA/ACCA student status is required/desirable.
Experience & Enrollment:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Programme.
In the final year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme.
Within one year after graduation from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
