The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the world's environmental agenda and promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development. Under the direct supervision of the GEF Biodiversity Task Manager, the intern will assist the Biodiversity Finance Working Group.
Responsibilities
Support the performance of methodological research and analysis from diverse sources on nature and finance-related themes, specifically focusing on metrics, indicators, and data.
Assist in monitoring academic publications on related themes and convert these into digestible highlights for the Biodiversity Finance Working Group.
Assist the Task Manager in drafting targeted presentations, briefing notes, and speaking points based on the Working Group’s findings.
Provide support for coordination, administrative, and communications operations, such as scheduling meetings, sharing documentation with members, and maintaining the Working Group’s Intranet page.
Organize and minute meetings.
Assist in liaising with relevant in-house and external partners as requested by the team.
Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences of relevance to UNEP in Geneva.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements at the time of application:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
Have graduated with a university degree.
Required Skills and Special Knowledge
AI Expertise: Experience working with AI tools or technologies is required. Applicants should be prepared to describe specific examples of projects, platforms, or tools used and their role in those initiatives.
Research and Analysis: Proven ability to conduct research or write reports on emerging technologies, digital trends, or AI-related topics is required.
Data Skills: Relevant academic or practical experience with data compilation, data analysis, data dissemination, visualization, and/or mapping of numeric analysis is highly desirable.
