The Interior Designer role based in Nairobi involves leading design schemes from concept development to execution on site. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are planned, budgeted, and implemented efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality and timely completion. This role requires a strong combination of creative flair and technical proficiency in design, alongside robust project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed mood boards and comprehensive design documents for presentation of design schemes to stakeholders.
- Develop all necessary drawings and construction details required for efficient execution on site.
- Review drawings provided by consultants to ensure strict compliance with design specifications and accuracy.
- Plan and implement interior design projects, including defining the project scope, setting goals, and establishing clear deliverables.
- Define tasks and required resources, providing support and direction to both office and on-ground teams.
- Manage the project budget effectively, which involves reviewing and preparing project Bills of Quantities (BOQ’s).
- Allocate project resources strategically to ensure execution remains strictly within the approved budget.
- Establish a detailed project schedule and timeline, and meticulously plan procurement and materials acquisition.
- Ensure the timely completion of all assigned projects.
- Lead quality assurance efforts across the project, ensuring high-quality standards are met by both suppliers and the construction team.
- Report regularly on the project status, providing stakeholders with updates on progress, outlining potential issues, and proposing effective solutions.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Possess a strong professional portfolio showcasing previous interior design projects and/or relevant Quantity Surveying (QS) involvement.
- Demonstrate a strong creative and aesthetic sense coupled with technical design proficiency.
- Must possess proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, etc.).
