Job Description
The role of the Indian Commis Cook involves assisting in the preparation and ensuring the quality and consistency of authentic Indian cuisine within a reputable hotel environment. This position requires adherence to strict hygiene and safety standards and offers an opportunity to learn and grow within the kitchen team.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, breads, and accompaniments.
Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
Learn and grow within the kitchen team, contributing ideas and enthusiasm.
Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
Ensure all food and other items are stored properly. Check quality of ingredients.
Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages.
Support the other chefs in daily kitchen operations and menu preparation.
Requirements and Qualifications
Proven experience in a similar role in a reputable hotel.
Basic knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and recipes.
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.).
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Team-oriented with good communication skills.
A certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts is an added advantage.
