This role is for a Human Resource Management Intern designed to offer hands-on practical experience across various HR functions at Surge Energy Limited. The intern will provide essential support to the HR team, contributing directly to organizational objectives through involvement in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy development, training, and general HR administration.

Surge Energy Limited (Surge) specializes in the manufacturing and revalidation of steel LPG cylinders. Incorporated in 2017, the company is located in Kisaju, Kenya. This strategic location provides convenient access to Kenya's capital city, Nairobi, the Mombasa Port through the Internal Container Depot (ICD), and the entire East Africa region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and scheduling interviews.
- Support the onboarding process for new employees, including preparing orientation materials and conducting orientation sessions.
- Assist with employee relations activities, including maintaining employee records, handling inquiries, and supporting disciplinary processes.
- Aid in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Assist in organizing and conducting employee training and development programs.
- Support HR projects and initiatives, such as performance management, employee engagement surveys, and diversity and inclusion programs.
- Assist with benefits administration tasks, such as enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
- Conduct research on HR best practices and contribute ideas for process improvements.
- Assist with various administrative tasks within the HR department, including filing, data entry, and maintaining HR databases.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in human resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior internship or work experience in HR is a plus.
