Job Description
The role of Housekeeper II (Job Grade KEWI 9) reports directly to the Housekeeper I (KEWI 8) within the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (specifically the Kenya Water Institute - KEWI). This position is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the Institute's facilities, particularly in supporting hospitality and conferencing services.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
Taking part in setting up conferencing facilities.
Carrying out general cleaning duties.
Spreading beds.
Operating laundry equipment.
Washing cleaning materials and equipment.
Maintaining cleaning equipment.
Dusting and cleaning rooms, windows and corridors.
Person Specifications and Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must meet the following requirements:
Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in the grade of Housekeeper III or in a comparable position.
Education/Certifications: A Certificate in any of the following courses: Housekeeping and Front Office Management, Housekeeping and Laundry, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
Skills: Proficiency in computer applications.
Performance: Must have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Leadership and Integrity Requirements
Successful candidates will also be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity. Note that the following clearances will be required from successful candidates upon offer of job (and not at the application stage):
Certificate of Good Conduct;
Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
