The Head of Product Security role at M-KOPA is critical for driving comprehensive security strategies aligned with business objectives, supporting M-KOPA’s mission to make high-quality energy affordable to everyone. The individual will lead both the Application Security and Threat Intelligence teams. The security teams maintain end-to-end ownership of their solutions, spanning threat modeling, vulnerability research, production monitoring, and incident response. This position requires combining cutting-edge security practices with purpose-driven leadership to enable digital and financial inclusion across Africa.
Responsibilities (What You'll Do)
Team Leadership
- Lead Application Security and Threat Intelligence teams.
- Build and scale specialised security capabilities.
- Mentor talented security professionals.
Technical Focus
- Engage in offensive security, including hardware hacking and Android exploitation.
- Oversee threat intelligence collection and automation.
- Conduct vulnerability research and penetration testing.
- Automate security workflows using platforms like n8n.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Perform threat modelling and risk assessments.
- Coordinate Red team exercises.
- Ensure executive partnership and translate security matters into clear business impacts.

Required Experience and Qualifications (What You Need)

Qualifications
- A BA/BSc/HND qualification is required.
Experience & Expertise
- Extensive hands-on experience in product/application security with proven expertise in vulnerability research, penetration testing, and security architecture.
- Experience leading and scaling security teams, demonstrating success in building high-performing Application Security and Threat Intelligence functions.
- Proven track record in building threat intelligence programmes, including the use of automation platforms like n8n.
- Hands-on experience with Android security and hardware hacking.
