Role Overview
The Head of ICT is tasked with leading and coordinating the development of a forward-thinking, world-class ICT strategy for VisionFund Kenya (VFK). Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role focuses on ensuring that the ICT strategy is closely aligned with VFK’s overall business goals and continuously adapts to the evolving needs of the organization and its various units. The position also involves conducting research and advising management on emerging technologies and trends that could add value to VFK.
Additionally, the role provides strategic direction in designing and implementing a secure, innovative, and business-oriented ICT framework that supports VisionFund Kenya’s mission and operational priorities, while ensuring the efficient performance of all ICT systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Advise the CEO and Senior Management on ICT strategy and infrastructure.
- Identify and recommend emerging technologies to enhance organizational performance.
- Participate in leadership and strategic decision-making forums.
ICT Strategy, Planning & Budgeting
- Develop and implement the ICT strategy aligned to business goals.
- Prepare and manage the ICT annual budget ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee delivery of ICT projects and services across the organization.
- Lead ICT capacity building and staff training initiatives.
ICT Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and enforce ICT policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure data protection, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
- Establish and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Oversee ICT documentation and resource management.
ICT Operations & Systems Management
- Manage ICT infrastructure, systems, and user support services.
- Ensure high system availability, reliability, and performance.
- Supervise and mentor ICT staff.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy of systems, including loan tracking systems.
Other Duties
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the CEO.

- Approved and implemented ICT strategy and annual plan.

Qualifications & Experience
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (preferred).
Professional Qualifications
- Relevant ICT certifications (e.g., ITIL, COBIT, CISSP, CISA, PMP) are an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in ICT, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience in ICT strategy development and implementation.
- Experience in financial services or microfinance sector is an added advantage.
- Strong background in ICT governance, cybersecurity, and systems management.

Working Conditions
- Office-based role in Nairobi.
