Job Description
Tenwek Hospital is a Christian community committed to excellence in compassionate healthcare, spiritual ministry, and training for service to the glory of God. We are seeking a Head of Diagnostics and Ancillary Services to lead our team at the AGC Tenwek Cardiothoracic Hospital. This position leads a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent delivery of services, efficient operations, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across departments including Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy Services, and Clinical Nutrition.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Oversight: Oversee all aspects of Diagnostics and Ancillary services, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and smooth operation meeting patient needs.
Quality Assurance: Champion quality assurance by developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality control procedures.
Leadership: Provide effective leadership and direction to the team, promoting a culture of collaboration, problem-solving, and effectiveness.
Equipment Management: Monitor and assess the functionality of diagnostic and ancillary services equipment and proactively report issues to management.
Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for the teams, advocating for resource allocation and strategic development.
Compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance by overseeing the collection, analysis, and submission of required data to relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement: Implement and manage innovation plans to optimize service delivery.
Unit Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, supervision, performance management, and staff development within the unit.
Corporate Initiatives: Facilitate implementation of work plans for Audit, Integrity, Quality Management System, and Risk Management.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Background: Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management with a Business Administration qualification; OR a Medical Officer/Clinical Officer with an advanced degree in Healthcare Administration.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years proven experience in diagnostics, pharmacy, physical therapy, or general health sector operations in a level 4 hospital.
Leadership: At least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Certification: Completion of a Senior Management Course or Leadership Development program.
Professional Membership: Up-to-date membership and licensing of the relevant Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, and/or Physical Therapy Boards and Authorities of Kenya.

Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
High Emotional Quotient and excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage new ideas and change in priorities.
Highly organized and detail-oriented planner.
Ability to analyze data to drive continuous improvement.
Previous experience at a tech startup is a plus.
