The Group Director of Finance will lead the development and implementation of financial strategies aligned with the Group's strategic priorities and business objectives. As a key advisor to Executive Management and the Board of Directors, this role oversees financial planning, governance, treasury, risk management, procurement governance, and performance monitoring across the organization.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Performance Management
Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies aligned to the Group's strategic priorities and business objectives.
Provide strategic financial advice and recommendations to the Strategist, Managing Director, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.
Support strategic planning through financial modelling, forecasting, business analysis, and scenario planning.
Evaluate the financial implications of strategic initiatives, investments, expansion opportunities, and major business decisions.
Provide oversight of the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
Oversee capital and operating expenditure (CAPEX/OPEX) planning, modelling, and monitoring, including financial evaluation of capital-intensive projects, investment opportunities, and business cases.
Financial Controls and Governance
Establish and maintain an effective financial control environment across the Group.
Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of financial policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
Oversee identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate, timely, and reliable financial and management reports.
Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable statutory requirements.
Review financial performance and provide actionable insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Ensure availability of quality financial information to support Executive Management and Board oversight.
Procurement Governance and Value Management
Provide strategic oversight of procurement governance and ensure procurement activities comply with approved policies, procedures, and governance standards.
Promote value-for-money principles and responsible utilization of organizational resources.
Audit, Risk Management and Compliance
Oversee compliance with applicable financial, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate responses to audit findings and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
Treasury and Investment Management
Review business cases and financial evaluations for major projects and investments.
Provide oversight of capital allocation decisions to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
Monitor returns on investments and major expenditure initiatives.
Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
Provide financial insights and recommendations to Executive Management, Board Committees, and the Board of Directors.
Serve as a key advisor on matters relating to financial performance, resource allocation, and value management.
Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Leadership and People Management
Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the Finance Directorate.
Drive talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement within the Directorate.
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Strategic Management, or a related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in finance, financial planning, management reporting, financial controls, corporate performance management, or related fields.
At least five (5) years in a senior leadership role.
Relevant professional qualification such as CPA-T (registered with NBAA), ACCA, CIMA, or recognized CA qualification.
Experience within transportation, logistics, shipping, infrastructure, mobility services, supply chain, healthcare, or another operationally intensive industry is preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading budgeting, financial planning, financial reporting, governance, and performance management functions.
