OUK is seeking highly qualified individuals to serve as Graduate Student Supervisors for Masters and PhD candidates, focusing specifically on the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy program. Supervisors are essential in guiding candidates through their research journey using OUK's innovative virtual and digital platforms.
Roles & Responsibilities of Supervisors
Supervisors are expected to perform the following duties:
- Provide expert academic and research supervision to Masters and PhD candidates.
- Guide candidates comprehensively through the stages of proposal development, research design, data collection, data analysis, and final thesis writing.
- Mentor candidates effectively through virtual supervision utilizing OUK's dedicated digital platforms.
- Ensure strict adherence to OUK's Graduate Studies Policy, established research ethics, quality standards, and other relevant University policies, including meeting specified timelines.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback, alongside submitting progress reports in line with institutional guidelines.
- Support candidates in the preparation stages for their thesis defense and facilitate the publication of their research outputs.
Qualifications for a PhD Supervisor
To be considered for a PhD Supervisor position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- An earned Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in a relevant field, obtained from a recognised institution.
- A proven track record of research, demonstrated by having at least three (3) peer-reviewed publications within the last five years.
- Possession of strong digital mentoring and online engagement skills, crucial for effectively supporting learners in virtual environments.
- Familiarity and prior experience with online or virtual supervision is highly desired and will be considered an added advantage.
