Gardener / Farm Worker (Ithookwe Show Ground)

This role is for a Gardener/Farm Worker based at the Ithookwe Show Ground, responsible for maintaining the showground plots and assisting with various agricultural activities. This is a contractual position within the County Government of Kitui.

Requirements for Appointment

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Kenyan Citizen.
• Be at least 18 years of age and above.
• Possess a National Identification Card.
• Hold a minimum of Primary School Certificate (KCSE qualification mentioned).
• Demonstrate basic farm work and crop management knowledge.
• Be physically fit and willing to perform manual labour.
• Be punctual, disciplined, and able to follow instructions diligently.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

1. Prepare showground demo plots (digging, weeding, leveling).
2. Keep grounds clean and tidy.
3. Assist in planting, watering, harvesting crops.
4. Maintain structures, tools, and irrigation systems.
5. Control weeds and pests under supervision.
6. Record daily farm activities.
7. Perform any other duties assigned by the Sub County Agriculture Officer.
