The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hiring a Financial Analyst, level 2. This position is critical for providing detailed financial analysis and support for a large, complex unit or division within the organization. The role involves comprehensive budget management, financial reporting, compliance assurance, and internal control oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze budgets and financial statements using information from operating statements, account ledgers, work order reports, project tracking systems, etc. for a large, complex unit or division of a department. Anticipate future needs.
- Analytically review budget and financial statements. Reconcile appropriation and cash flow budgets to the general ledger (GL). Ensure correct coding to the GL.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Identify trends and potential areas of concern. Initiate basic adjustments, as needed, and report actions. Prepare management reports. Investigate alternatives.
- Create reports, charts, and graphs illustrating findings. Recommend adjustments.
- Perform on-site internal control reviews. Review documents dealing with appropriation or transfer of budgets. Work with division managers to resolve differences.
- Conduct internal control reviews. This includes cost studies and overhead analysis of income sources, cost justifications, and savings analysis for data processing hardware and other equipment.
- Prepare financial procedures documentation.
- The position may provide functional advice or training to less-experienced financial analyst positions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or Finance or Business Management) is required.
- Five to eight years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, business management, or equivalent.
- CMA, CPA, or MBA preferred.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles and Church accounting systems.
- Must be proficient in operating a personal computer and possess knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Must be able to quickly learn and adapt to new software systems.
