The role of the Finance Officer, Branch Accounts (Business Analysts 1) at the Kisumu Branch involves ensuring timely and accurate financial operations related to supplier payments and staff expenditures.
Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for timely and accurate inputting of supplier invoices, withholding taxes, filing withholding tax returns, reconciling payment accounts, reviewing staff expense reports, following up on staff imprests, filing and custody of payment records, and responding to supplier queries.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities
- Enhancing efficiency in Supplier Payments Processing.
- Enhancing internal controls.
- Making proposals in payment policy development and payments operation manual.
Technical and Operational Responsibilities
- Efficient processing of suppliers’ invoices, staff claims, and imprests.
- Perform Bank Account reconciliations.
- Ensure withholding of applicable taxes is done correctly.
- Prepare tax returns schedule to facilitate timely payment of relevant taxes.
- Coordinate regular filing of payment documents and ensure ease of retrieval.
- Approve payments promptly.
- Review payments against supporting documents on a daily basis.
- Review staff expense reports/claims for correctness.
- Effectively respond to supplier queries.
Other Responsibilities
- Any other assignment that may be allocated from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related discipline from a reputable university.
- Professional qualification(s) in Accounting, e.g., CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
Work Experience
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a fully-fledged Accounting Department.

- Good understanding of Financial Reporting requirements and Standards.
- Working knowledge of computer applications (MS Excel, Ms Word and Accounting applications).
- Good understanding of Kenya Tax Laws.
- Good understanding of Public Finance Management Act.
