The Finance Business Partner for Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) serves as a subject matter expert on financial data integrity, accounting processes, reconciliations, analysis, and reporting for end-to-end Financial Planning and Management in the business area. This role is responsible for continuous operational excellence and real-time responsiveness of finance to enable business to achieve growth and profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Data Integrity & Reporting: Serve as a subject matter expert on financial data integrity, accounting processes, and reconciliations. Own the delivery of high-quality information for regular and ad-hoc enhanced reporting.
- Performance Improvement: Focus on information-driven performance improvement and formulate data into easy-to-access standardized views. Generate innovative, easy-to-comprehend progress reports for leaders on strategic agendas, investments, and operational metrics.
- Stakeholder Management: Appraise stakeholders of key financial issues and raise them with executive leadership. Build trust through a single source of financial information corroborated by related management sources.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to core finance processes including annual planning, forecasting, and reporting. Understand and integrate Treasury, Risk, and Finance data from a Business Unit (BU) perspective.
- Innovation: Identify and innovate operating practices to optimize the function. Embrace digital solutions and adopt a 'best for Absa' approach.
- Governance & Control: Act in line with governance and control frameworks. Develop and implement control procedures as deficiencies are identified and drive improvement of business accounting practices.
- Commercial Insights: Provide contextual insights into performance reports and generate finance narratives that drive business decisions.
Duties
- Develop and sustain knowledge of end-to-end processes and relevant systems within the scope of work.
- Prepare for all financial cycles (month-end, year-end, planning) in advance and engage with relevant teams.
- Transform and evolve finance planning, tracking, and control processes.
- Collaborate with finance colleagues across the Group Finance Division (GFD) to address challenges and opportunities.
- Contribute to Business Continuity Management (BCM) and cybersecurity processes relevant to the BU.
Skills and Experiences
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
- Experience with Compass systems and Power BI is highly advantageous.
- Experience in executing finance processes (Reporting, Planning, Analysis, etc.).
- Experience in innovative commercial environments.
- Financial Modelling skills.
- Banking sector experience is required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize large datasets concisely.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
- CPA (K) professional qualification.
- Knowledge of Absa accounting policies and procedures is a plus.
- Good understanding of business strategic objectives and cost drivers.
