This is an entry and training grade for degree holders within the environmental cadre. The Environment Officer works under the supervision of a senior officer to ensure the company adheres to environmental management policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of environmental management plans.
Participate in environmental audits and follow up on the implementation of recommendations.
Maintain a register on compliance with environmental legislation, proposing corrective actions and following up on their implementation.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
Inspect waste generation and disposal processes.
Comply with the company’s environment management policy and Occupational Safety Management policy.
Prepare environmental reports and budget proposals.
Carry out and interpret effluent monitoring analysis.
Ensure conversance and implementation of environmental regulatory requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution.
Registered as an Associate Expert with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
Membership in a professional body (e.g., Environmental Institute of Kenya - EIK) is considered an added advantage.
