The E T Consultant role at the World Bank Group, based in Nairobi, serves as a crucial country focal point for disbursement activities and client advisory services related to project preparation and implementation. This role involves transaction processing, portfolio management, system enhancement support, and extensive capacity building for borrowing clients.
Key Responsibilities (What you will do)
- Disbursement Transactions Processing: Act as the country focal point for assigned countries in disbursement-related aspects, collaborating with the country Finance Officer. Perform transaction processing, including the release of disbursements, as appropriate, and promptly liaise with clients to resolve potential issues or exceptions.
- Client Advisory & Engagement: Serve as a solution provider for advice to internal clients (task teams, financial management specialists, procurement specialists, and legal) on preparation and implementation issues in assigned countries. Appropriately utilize the Askloans Helpdesk (Client Relationship Management tool) to engage with clients and provide analytical and performance data on that client engagement.
- Project Restructuring and Trust Funds: Manage project preparation, as assigned by Finance Officers for low-risk Trust Funds, and review restructuring packages.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor inactive Project Designated Accounts, engage in portfolio management activities and system updates, and liaise with clients to ensure Designated Accounts balances are promptly documented or refunded for orderly loan closure. Handle other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Training and Capacity Building: Evaluate transaction reviews and portfolio management work to identify client capacity constraints. Provide capacity-building training, including training end-users on how to access and interpret Bank online systems, tools, and data available in the data lakehouse, and how to perform disbursement data analysis.
- System and Related Tasks: Support the design and development of system enhancements, upgrades to applications, and new systems. Perform testing related to enhancement tasks and application upgrades. Prepare disbursement and analytical reports, including maintaining interactive dashboards, data visualizations, and reports using Power BI and other tools.
- Data Stewardship and Visualization: Work with various data platforms and tools such as Power BI and Advanced Excel. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements, automate reporting processes, and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for ongoing loan system modernization projects. Serve as the bridge between business teams and the technical data engineering team to translate business needs into technical requirements and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience (What you will bring)
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant discipline is required.
- Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification) is preferred.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (such as business administration, finance, or accounting) is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with a financial institution or an accounting firm is a plus.
- Experience working with financial systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and/or blockchain technology is a plus.
- Big Four or equivalent public accounting experience would be advantageous.
