Job Description
The Water Resources Authority (WRA) is a lead agency in the management of water resources in Kenya. It regulates, manages, and equitably allocates national water resources to all users. WRA is currently seeking to recruit three (3) qualified individuals for the position of Driver II.
Role Purpose
An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a Senior Driver. The purpose of this role is to enable the transportation of Authority staff, goods, and equipment, and any other assigned persons or goods for effective service delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Driving motor vehicles in the authorized grade.
Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, and tyre pressure.
Ensuring work tickets are authorized and up to date.
Ensuring the security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road.
Ensuring the safety of WRA staff and/or goods on board.
Adhering to the Authority’s transport policies and guidelines.
Maintaining daily cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
Requirements for Appointment
At least three (3) years of cumulative relevant work experience at the grade of Driver III or in a comparable position.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive.
Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
Certificate of Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers conducted by the Ministry of Roads and Public Works.
Defensive Driving certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Refresher Driving Course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Terms of Service and Remuneration
Successful candidates will serve for a probationary period of six (6) months, thereafter converting to Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service. Remuneration will be subject to the existing terms approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
