The Driver and Logistic Officer will oversee the organization’s logistics and support in-country transportation for staff involved in field activities as well as office-related tasks. They will liaise with project teams to ensure that trainings, workshops, and field missions are carried out smoothly, and will work closely with the administration team to provide logistical support. The Logistician/Driver will also conduct and contribute to in-country assessments related to security and traffic regulations, ensuring organizational compliance and the safety of staff during field missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving project vehicles and transport staff in different locations in Kenya as needed.
- Fill out mileage logbook, vehicle maintenance and fuel record sheet.
- Ensure compliance of traffic rules at all times.
- Maintain vehicles in good conditions.
- Load and download vehicle safety.
- Perform minor maintenance of the vehicles when required.
- Responsible for the security of the vehicles and materials/equipment on board.
- Responsible for the security of the passengers and staff.
- Managing Inventory: Permanent assets, Inventory (e.g., vehicles, computers) and Consumable items.
- Ensure the vehicle's insurance validity is checked.
- Checking suppliers contracts, deadlines and renewals.
- Maintaining vehicle cleanness and in serviceable condition all the time.
- Supporting in planning and preparation of trainings, workshops, events, etc.
- Support the maintenance of the office.
- Any other duty as required by the line manager commensurate with the post.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Diploma and above in Management, Procurement: Supplies management, Logistics management, Economics or other related fields of study.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid and active BCE class-driving license.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills (Microsoft office word, excel, etc); good command of arithmetic concepts.
- Communication: Good communication skills (both written and oral) in English and Kiswahili.
- Other Skills: Data handling skill, Planning and management skills.
- Work Style: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, Flexibility, availability to work depending on the organization’s needs.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years related work experience as a logistician/driver, 2 of which should be in an NGO set up. Experience should include training on supply chain management, logistics management, planning, and other related topics.
