Job Description
The Deputy Director of Research and Policy Coordination at the Samburu County Government is responsible for leading research initiatives and coordinating public policy formulation. This role aims to support county administration and strategic development through empirical research, policy analysis, and alignment with legislative processes.
Key Responsibilities
Research Initiatives: Coordinate research projects, design surveys, collect data, and conduct detailed statistical analysis to support policy recommendations.
Policy Formulation & Alignment: Assist in the development, formulation, and review of public policies, ensuring they align with government frameworks and legislative processes.
Reporting & Documentation: Draft comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and presentations for senior management and public stakeholders.
Information Dissemination: Translate complex research data and analytical findings into clear, actionable, and non-technical terms for diverse audiences.
Project Management: Apply exceptional organizational and time management skills to oversee and coordinate multi-faceted research and policy projects.
Requirements for Appointment
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or Statistics.
A Master's Degree in Public Policy, Economics, Research Methodologies, or related fields is highly desirable.
Training: Additional professional training in research methodologies, data analysis, or policy development is an added advantage.
Experience:
5 to 7 years of active experience in research, policy analysis, or a related field.
Previous experience working within Government, public institutions, or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) is highly advantageous.
Key Skills: Strong statistical capabilities, familiarity with legislative frameworks, exceptional communication, report writing, and stakeholder coordination skills.
