Dean of Students Role Overview

The Dean of Students is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing student affairs to enhance campus life at JFC Munene College Of Health Sciences. This pivotal role involves overseeing sports and extracurricular activities, mentorship programs, counseling services, community service linkages, health services, accommodation, and college cleanliness. The Dean plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that fosters the personal, academic, and professional growth of students.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Student Life and Extracurricular Activities: Oversee the development and execution of student life programs.
2. Sports Management: Manage and coordinate all college sports activities.
3. Mentorship and Community Service Programs: Develop and implement effective mentorship and community service initiatives.
4. Counseling and Student Support Services: Oversee the provision of counseling and necessary support services to students.
5. Discipline and Security: Manage student discipline and ensure campus security.
6. Cleanliness and Accommodation Management: Oversee student accommodation and ensure high standards of college cleanliness.
7. Reporting and Communication: Maintain accurate records and facilitate clear communication regarding student affairs.
8. Coordination and Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other college departments and external stakeholders.
9. Other Responsibilities: Handle additional duties as assigned to support student welfare.

Job Specifications

Academic Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sports Management, or a related field.
2. A Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or a relevant area is highly desirable.

Experience:

1. At least 5 years of experience in student affairs, counseling, academic administration, or sports management.
2. Proven track record in managing student programs, welfare, and disciplinary processes.
3. Must be computer proficient (MS Office).
