Role Overview
The Dean of the School of Business Administration primarily serves as a teaching staff member on permanent and pensionable terms, while holding the Dean of School position on a three-year renewable contract. This vital role reports directly to the DVC-Academics, Research and Student Affairs, and is responsible for providing strategic direction, academic leadership, and administrative oversight for the entire School, ensuring academic excellence, driving research productivity, and managing all resources effectively.

To provide strategic leadership and management for the School of Business Administration.
Duties and Responsibilities
The position holder will be responsible for:
- Strategic planning for the School.
- Overseeing teaching and evaluation processes, ensuring timely, up-to-standard, and comprehensive course coverage, as well as maintaining the integrity of examinations.
- Overseeing class attendance by both students and staff.
- Planning for, allocating, managing, and ensuring the optimal use of resources, including human and physical resources.
- Ensuring the sustainability and growth of the School through effective student retention, cohort completion, progression rates, and growth of the student population.
- Leading and inspiring research and innovation activities within the School.
- Leading and inspiring grant and proposal writing efforts in the School.
- Establishing and managing industry partnerships, collaborations, and linkages.
- Leading internationalisation efforts of the School, including broadening programme offerings, diversifying student nationality mix, and enhancing international exposure for students and staff through student and staff exchange programmes.
- Leading customer service efforts to students and staff, including the timely resolution of students' and staff concerns.
- People management, including the management of staff performance, work attendance, leave, and discipline.
- Overseeing programme development and review, ensuring programmes offered are reflective of market needs and align with the School's growth plans.
- Implementing University policies effectively.
- Implementing strategies designed to continually improve graduate employability.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a minimum of a relevant PhD, Masters, and Bachelor's degree in Business from an accredited and recognised University.
- Possess at least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Provide evidence of publications as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Have demonstrable leadership and administrative experience. Experience as a Head or Chair of Department, programme leader, postgraduate coordinator, or other relevant management experience will be highly considered.
- Have supervised at least two (2) postgraduate students to completion.
- Have attracted research funds as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Provide evidence of attending and contributing at academic conferences, seminars, or workshops.
- Can demonstrate contribution to University life through active participation in departmental and school matters or meetings, student academic advising, and committee membership, among others.
- Membership to a relevant professional body is required.
